Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to do to become a Club member?
To become a member of North Elmham Tennis Club you will be asked to sign up by using a ClubSpark Account, or LTA/Facebook/Google/Microsoft. Please click the LTA link and if you don't have a login already click the link to 'get British Tennis Membership'.

Choose the FREE Club Lite Membership option. This FREE BTM number will allow you to use the online booking system for courts and will also get you into the Wimbledon Ballot. You can choose to upgrade to LTA TEAM membership for additional benefits.

Membership subscription prices have remained the same since 2018. There will be a £5 increase on Adult and Family Membership packages for 2024/25.

How do I get a key fob for the main Club gate?
All members (aged 12+) will receive a key fob (at an additional cost of £6.50) when they join or renew their membership. The key fob will open the main gate and also the kitchen door (right) in the clubhouse, which will enable access to the courts and toilets. All key fobs are re-programmed in May each year. 

How do I book a tennis court?
As a member, you can book a tennis court by visiting the online booking system.

At what times may I book a tennis court?
You may book a tennis court, in one-hour slots, from 8am until 10pm each day. There is no limit on the number of times you may book a court each week.

At what times are the courts not available for booking?
The tennis courts are not available on Sundays (10am-1pm), Mondays (7-9pm), Tuesdays (3:45-6:30pm), and on Fridays (6:30-10pm). In the summer matches take priority on Tuesdays to Thursday (May to July) and on two or three Sundays between October to February for winter matches.

Do I have to pay an additional fee for use of the floodlights?
No.

When will I need to renew my tennis membership?
If you wish to renew your membership, you will be asked to do so in late April/early May each year. Annual membership runs from 1 May to 30 April (inclusive).

Does the Club organise social doubles sessions?
There are two adult sessions on Fridays from 6:30-10pm and Sundays from 10am-1pm. Tennis balls are provided. (Ladies also organise play on Tuesdays from 10am, and there is also a team practice session between September and March on Wednesdays from 7-9pm.)

How much would it cost if I’d like to bring along a guest?
Guests of members may play no more than two times per year. The cost to accompany a member is £5 per person, per session.

How do I get involved in tennis coaching?
Coaching is available for juniors (ages 4+) and adults during school terms (October to December, February-March, April-May, June-July). Subject to numbers, there are also holiday camps (Easter and summer).  More information

Adult coaching is held on Sunday mornings, from 9-10am, between October-December and April-July. More information

How much will it cost for a group lesson?
If you get involved in junior group coaching with LTA Level 3 Accredited+ coach Jonathan Lindner, Jim Biggie and/or James Buddell on Tuesdays, prices range from £4-7 per hour. More information

Am I able to have an individual or shared tennis lesson?
Yes, please get in touch with our three LTA Level 3 Acredited+ coaches Jonathan Lindner, Jim Biggie or James Buddell to arrange individual or group lessons. The cost per hour is between £20-25.

How do I get involved in inter-club team matches?
The Club played inter-club matches in Norfolk leagues in both the winter (mixed) and summer (doubles and men’s doubles). Ladies A, Men’s A, Castle Acre North Norfolk are traditionally held in the summer on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays (May-July). Norwich Winter League matches are held every two weeks, on Sundays from October-March. More information

How do I sign up for Club newsletters?
The Club committee will send out regular newsletters to promote junior and adult coaching, team and social play and tournaments. Information can also be found on Facebook or Instagram.

What happens if I am the last person at the Club?
Please ensure that the tennis nets are wound down and the court gate is padlocked shut. Ensure that the pavilion doors are locked, water taps and lights are switched off, with ALL keys left on the key rack in the kitchen area. Close the main gate.

How do I enter the Wimbledon Tickets Ballot at the club?
Sign up for a LTA British Tennis Membership, linking your profile to ‘North Elmham Tennis Club’. You will have until mid-November to register online for the Wimbledon Tickets Ballot (no exceptions). 

If I’d like to recommend a friend or family member to join, how much is annual club membership?
There are a variety of membership packages: Adult: £70; Family (two adults, 1-3 children): £150; Junior (11 & under): FREE; Junior (12-16): £15; Student: (17-25): £25; Parent (for juniors aged 11 & under): £15. There are no additional joining fees. More information

In case of an emergency, where is the nearest?
There is a defibrillator installed on the main pavilion at the North Elmham Playing Field, beside the car park, approximately 100 metres from the courts. It should be used when a person is in cardiac arrest. Please call 999 in an emergency to get the access code. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to use a defibrillator.
