Get To Know Coach Jim Biggie

Jim Biggie and his family have been a major part of North Elmham Tennis Club for 40 years. His wife, Judy, is a committee member, and one of their daughters, Clare, and son, Stewart, both play to a high level.

He was part of a dedicated team that secured £130,000 of funding, over a period of seven years between 1995 and 2002, to build the facility we all enjoy today. Previously a grass-court Club, the macadam courts and pavilion officially opened for play in June 2002.

Jim has more than 20 years of experience as an LTA Level 3 Accredited+ tennis coach, having led tennis sessions at North Elmham Primary School (1998-2001) and at North Elmham Tennis Club (2001-2005). He received an honorary life membership from Norfolk LTA for long service in 2004.

He was also Club Chairman from 2008 to 2011, then again in 2017-18; Treasurer from 1987-1989, 1995-2003 and has been an Honorary Steward at The Championships, Wimbledon since 2017. In 'retirement', he is groundsman at Brisley Cricket Club and back on court helping coach Jonathan Lindner.

In 2023, Jim was recognised alongside Lynda Denmead, Geraldine Leeder and Linda Smith as recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award by Norfolk LTA for their services to the Club and local community.
